
First, set the colour mode of the document for print to CMYK Colour.

This is the default colour swatches.

Click on the small arrow on the upper right corner and pick Select All Unused.

You can see all the swatches selected except black and white and grey.

Delete them by throwing them in the trashcan.
Click Yes.
Open a Pantone library and choose PANTONE process uncoated.

Select the arrow at the corner to choose how you want to view the colours. Now you can see the actual Pantone name. These are ink colours that are available to the printer so staying within these colour boundaries. Write down each colour and submit those colours along with the graphic to be printed.
You can drag and drop the Pantone colours directly in the Swatches palette. The small triangle at the right corner tells you that you have a legitimate Pantone colour. Hover over to see the swatch and the name.

Use the Split Into Grid option to make a rectangle and then apply.
Enter the number of rows and columns you want and check Add Guides.

Choose one column at a time and click on a colour swatch.

Then create a star above the boxes.

Choose Divide Objects Below. Set up a keyboard shortcut for this option.

Now you see how the design got divided.

Proceed to change the colours.

Type some text. They are connected to the grid lines so thread the text to another position and then place it back where you want. Delete the grid lines without deleting the text. Convert the text to outlines. Save the graphics as an .ai file and .eps file. It’s ready for use.
